"Have our customers go beyond using and begin endorsing our products and services as ambassadors of Golden Acres." - Golden Acres Vision Statement |
|||
| "I like the Bt in
2841RRB
and the standability of the milo, especially
737
in wet years." Grower: Bob West (Rio Hondo, Texas) Golden Acres Independent Representative to contact for additional information: Chris Cernosek |
|||
| "I like the
consistency of
2841RRB and
27Z07 from Golden Acres Genetics.
Golden Acres is 'top notch' with consistent varieties and a better price
for the quality."

| "Golden Acres has
done very well. As far as average wise, it held up better than the rest
of them on a year to year basis. We had planted several
competitors varieties and overall Golden Acres has been more stable, it
hasn't fluctuated a whole lot over the years and has done real well.
They have good standability, the head exertion has been great and the
varieties we have been planting are mostly open head - so overall it has
been good."

Melvin Marek plants Golden Acres corn
and grain sorghum. It was a challenging year weather wise, but
Melvin says he has been pleased with his Golden Acres
3545. "It was a little wet to begin with so I got behind and then
when the heat hit, will it just kind of shut off, but it still will
make."

| "Golden
Acres grain sorghum has done well every year, even in a dry year.
This year it was phenomenal. Golden Acres
3545 was the top yielder on all fields. In our test plot,
Golden Acres beat Pioneer and DeKalb." See plot results
here.

Scott Ging planted 2843RRW and 28Z48 - averaging 80 bushels per acre.
Considering the lack of rain, Scott was pleased with the results and
says root worm resistance really pays off in a dry year. "I
just think it makes the plant healthier in the beginning."

Charles Ring has had good success recently with
2841RRB
and 2843RRW. "Golden Acres is trying to come in with
qualities that we can use in south Texas. The "national companies" want
to gear towards the big corn states while Golden Acres will try and fit
their corn hybrids to our area a little bit better."

Drought really took its toll on the
corn crop this year around Snook, Texas. Edmund Sebesta plants
2841RRB
and
2839RR for their standability and yield. "Good people to
work with is one of the big things. They stand behind their
products real well. I always plant some other company varieties in
the test; however, Golden Acres always just pulls through at the top. I
have never seen anything that topped it."

| "I
kind of like the
3827 a little bit better as it weathers better. Last year we
had a tremendous amount of rain during harvest and it weathered the rain
a lot better than the other competitive varieties - and it out yielded.
This year the moisture was running around 13% and we were still getting
60 pound bushel weight. Our own yields have been from around 4000
lbs an acre. We had one field that was up to 5300 to 5500 pounds
using
3827. It has the overall package that works good for us."

"I planted two varieties from Golden Acres including
737.
I had two farms to make 5,085 and 5,035 pounds and a couple others in
the upper 4,000's. We had bushel weights over 60 pounds this year
- how I did that with the limited rainfall I don't know."

| Albert
Cholik says it was a challenging year for corn and yields were off from
last year. "Last year we cut some over 8,000 pounds here in the
valley, which is pretty good. This year I think I had one field
that cut that was between 7,000 and 7,500 pounds using Golden Acres
2841RRB." On grain sorghum...."The open head of Golden Acres 3545 really paid off."

What is your favorite Golden Acres hybrid and why? "Golden Acres
2841RRB
and 27Z07
are my favorites because of the root worm protection."

"With less than an inch of rain,
26Z24
was one of my best hybrids. It held on well and still had a higher
end bushel weight of 57."

was very pleased with Golden Acres
26Y37
and
2821RLH." See his plot results

Neil Reynolds has been planting Golden Acres seed for 10 years. When asked what he likes best about 2989RRB, "Having the dry year that we had it stayed green on dry land, and also responded well to irrigation."

| Dennis
Polak has been planting Golden Acres seed for 10 years. In 2008,
he planted
3552 and
737
remarking "737 is a short plant that matures fast with a high
yield. Works well in my light soil. 3552 has good yield
potential, stands well and holds up well in wet conditions."

| Darrell Sklar is a Golden Acres plot cooperator and tested
26Y37
(New for 2009). "I was pleased with
26Y37
because of its high bushel weight in these dry conditions."

"If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. God's ways are as hard to discern as the pathways of the wind, and as mysterious as a tiny baby being formed in a mother's womb. Be sure to stay busy and plant a variety of crops, for you never know which will grow - perhaps they all will." Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 |
